ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Pledge support for public radio

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Hawaii Public Radio kicked off its annual spring pledge drive last week. This year's goal: $657,000. "It's definitely a strange way to cover the costs of our programming for the next six months," said Michael Titterton, president and general manager of HPR. "But we are independently funded. At this point, 63 percent of our support comes from private individuals." Public radio stations under the HPR banner are KHPR 88.1 on O'ahu, KKUA 90.7 in Wailuku and KANO 91.1 in Hilo. KIPO 89.3 on O'ahu provides news, information and world music. To pledge to KHPR, call 944-8800, toll-free (888) 970-8800; for KIPO, 941-3689.

KIDS HAVE CHAKRAS, TOO

YOGA-TIZE THE YOUNG ONES

You're never too young to downward dog. Children can reap the physical and emotional benefits of yoga through a new set of interactive board games created by a New York yoga instructor and mother of two. Keiki learn yoga poses using "yoga bingo," energize their bodies and minds using a card game that teaches the traditional sun salutation pose and harness the healing power of their energy centers using the "Chakra Energy" board game.
