Better drainage a top priority

Advertiser Staff

The Kailua Neighborhood Board wants city officials to move quickly to improve drainage along a section of Kailua Road slated for development.

Board members last week approved two resolutions dealing with drainage issues.

One calls on the city to expedite its plans for drainage improvements along Kailua Road near the Kailua District Park. The city recently completed an environmental assessment of the drainage. The other resolution calls on the federal Environmental Protection Agency to give residents of the nearby Kailuan Apartments more time to come up with plans for replacing their outdated cesspools.
