Don't miss a beat at Waipahu drum fest

Head for Waipahu and Hawai'i's Plantation Village, which presents "Relive the Plantation Days: Drum Festival," part of its continuing series of monthly celebrations.

Today's event is headlined by the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble on the main stage at noon, followed by a hands-on introduction to taiko by the group. There's also traditional Korean drumming (10 a.m.); a performance by Hawaii Eisa Shinyu kai and Okinawan bon dance workshop (11 a.m.); and a Yamada Dance Group performance and Japanese bon dance workshop (1 p.m.).

Admission is $7 general, $4 kama'aina and military, free for kids 11 and younger and plantation village members. The village is at 94-695 Waipahu St. 677-0110.
