Hawai'i Pacific University Theatre auditions for the Nov. 10-Dec. 10 production of "The Lion in Winter," noon today, HPU Theatre, Kane'ohe. Auditions consist of reading from the script; rehearsals scheduled for 7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and some weekends. 254-0853.

The Actors' Group and the Filipino Community Center audition for the Oct. 13-22 production of Virgilio Menor Felipe's play "To U.S. With Aloha and Mabuhay," 1-5 p.m. today, UH-Manoa School of Architecture auditorium. Parts available for males and females of all ethnicities of any age. Auditions consist of cold readings of the script and some improvisational group games. Kumu Kahua Theatre auditions for eight men and three women Filipino-American actors for the Nov. 9-Dec. 10 production of "Who the Fil-Am I?" directed by Troy M. Apostol, 6-9 p.m. today at the theater. 536-4222.

KHON 2 TV and Pacific Wings sponsor a contest to select one Hawai'i contestant to travel to Seattle for the American Idol auditions. Singers may log onto www.khon2.com to become one of 10 contestants to audition before a live audience at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hawai'i Theatre. Thursday's winner will be flown, all-expenses paid, to Seattle for the official American Idol audition on Sept. 19. Deadline to apply is today.

Aloha Festivals seeks male falsetto singers for the Oct. 13 falsetto contest. Winner receives a recording contract and prizes with runners-up winning prizes. Applications: 589-1771. Deadline extended to tomorrow.
