Michelle Peters had 17 kills and 15 digs as Brigham Young-Hawai'i swept Hawai'i Pacific, 30-19, 30-21, 30-22, last night in a Pacific West Conference volleyball opener for both teams at Blaisdell Arena.
Noelle Filimoeatu added 12 kills and Lesina Funaki had 10 kills and 10 digs for the 14th-ranked Seasiders (5-0).
Freshmen Chelsea Taylor and Kaui Todd each had eight kills for the Sea Warriors (2-7).
Tampa (8-0) tops the latest coaches poll.

FAIRFIELD SWEEPS HILO
St. Joseph alum Lindsey Lee had 11 kills and 22 digs as Fairfield (Conn.) defeated Hawai'i-Hilo, 30-17, 30-22, 30-23, 30-22, in a four-game exhibition match last night at Hilo civic.
Jazmin Pa'akaula, also a St. Joseph alum, added 11 kills and 10 digs for the Stags, who play the University of Hawai'i tomorrow night in the opener of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Taina Savage led Hilo with 17 kills and 15 digs.

DERENNE HONORED
Iolani alum Keoni DeRenne was named the Portland (Maine) Sea Dogs Citizen of the Year by a vote of fans.
The Sea Dogs are a Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
DeRenne, in his sixth season of professional baseball, "frequently volunteered for school appearances, clinics and camp visits. During these visits and clinics he shared his experience with fans about life as a baseball player, the importance of education and teamwork," a team release said.
DeRenne batted .224 in 74 games, with six doubles and one home run.
TENNIS
LAJOLA LEADING
Hawai'i's Dennis Lajola led the Ukraine's Artem Smirnov, 6-2, 2-2, yesterday when their second-round match at the U.S. Open Junior Boys Championship was suspended by rain in New York.
Smirnov upset 13th-seeded American Kellen Damico in the opening round.
Lajola shut out Slovakia's Anrej Martin in a first-set tiebreaker and kept the momentum in the second set to win his first-round match, 7-6, 6-0.
Lajola and Donald Young, the fourth-seeded singles player, are seeded sixth in the doubles draw.
