Poet Laureate Ted Kooser coming to Isles

Outgoing U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, the man who edits "American Life in Poetry" (see above), will be in Hawai'i Nov. 6-10 for readings and workshops.
"I want to reach people who have felt excluded from poetry," said Kooser in a statement. "Poetry is about the small moments in life that matter. I want to help people discover that."
Events will be coordinated by Windward Community College.
Ted kooser events on O'ahu:
Nov. 6: "Ted Kooser: A Reading and Conversation," 7 p.m., UH-Manoa Campus Center Ballroom, free.
Nov. 7: "Do-It-Yourself Poetry: A Session for Writers with Ted Kooser," 2-4 p.m., WCC, $25.
Nov 9: "Local Wonders: Poetry and Place" reading and talk, 7 p.m., WCC Paliku Theatre, free.
