Turkish delights to be unfurled
By Paula Rath

Although she was raised in Honolulu, Cynthia Ucarer has fallen in love with all things Turkish (and that includes her Turkish husband, Hakan). Her numerous visits to that exotic country have evolved into a nomadic, Maui-based business, Global Caravan.
Global Caravan brings its treasures to Honolulu Thursday through Nov. 15, including spectacular carpets and kilims from Turkey and neighboring countries, as well as jewelry, accessories and treasures for the home. There are Baktiari tribal camel bags, old coin Afghan belly-dance belts, silver belts encrusted with carnelian from Uzbekistan, Persian-inspired holiday jackets designed by Georgene Shelton and fun stocking-stuffers: bold, striped, tongue-in-cheek "Turkish happy socks."
A free reception is set for 5 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, at which Turkish refreshments will be served. Daily hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and until 9 p.m. on Friday, which is First Friday. Find it in the Art Treasure Gallery (formerly Got Art), 1136 Nu'uanu Ave. (at the corner of Pauahi).
