Pete Smith memorial service on Oct. 29 at Kalaheo Gym

A memorial service for longtime Kalaheo High School boys basketball coach Pete Smith will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at Kalaheo Gym.
Smith, who guided the Mustangs to three state championships, 14 O'ahu Interscholastic Association titles and a state tournament appearance in each of his 18 seasons as head coach (1983-88, 1990-2003), died Tuesday morning after fighting colon cancer for three years.

KAMEHAMEHA GIRLS WIN
Kanani Herring had 23 kills last night to help visiting Kamehameha rally past Punahou, 15-25, 25-18, 25-22, in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu girls first-round playoff elimination match at Hemmeter Field House.
The Warriors (14-1) will play host to 'Iolani (13-1) at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at Kekuhaupi'o Gym, with the winner being named first-round champ and earning one of the ILH's two state tournament berths.
Shawna-Lei Kuehu and Larissa Nordyke each had nine kills to lead Punahou (13-2). The Buffanblu must now win the league's upcoming championship tournament or finish second overall in order to qualify for a state berth.

OIA CHAMPIONSHIP SET
The O'ahu Interscholastic Association air riflery championship is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. today at Pearl City.
The host Chargers are the defending boys champions while the Kapolei girls hope to defend their title.
