CaneFires rally for 5-4 victory over Honu

Will Venable had three hits, including a tie-breaking RBI single with two outs in the top of the ninth, as the West Oahu CaneFires beat the North Shore Honu, 5-4, last night in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game at Hans L'Orange Park.
West Oahu pitchers teamed to strike out 16. Reliever Joba Chamberlain worked four innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out six and walking none to earn the win. Neil Jamison pitched the ninth, recording three strikeouts, to earn the save. Starter Christian Garcia allowed three hits and three runs while striking out seven.
Mike Carp had three hits, including a two-run double in the first when the Honu took a 3-0 lead.
SHARKS 8, BEACHBOYS 1
Takanobu Tsujiuchi teamed with two relievers on a two-hitter as the Honolulu Sharks beat the Waikiki BeachBoys at Les Murakami Stadium.
Tsujiuchi (1-0) worked six innings, allowing one hit while striking out eight and walking two. Scott Roehl went two innings, allowing a hit and a run, and Bruce Gallaway pitched the ninth.
Steve Lerud batted 4 for 4, including a solo homer, and Van Pope hit a two-run homer during a seven-run second inning to spark the Sharks.
