A 47-year-old woman was arrested early yesterday after police said she drove through a road block and dragged a police officer who was trying to arrest her.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault of a police officer, resisting an order to stop, and driving under the influence of alcohol. She remained in police custody last night pending charges.

Police had closed Hawai'i Kai Drive from the 6500 block to 'Opihikao Way while they investigated a motorcycle accident. At about 12:50 a.m., a woman drove up to the barriers, told officers that she lived nearby and asked that she be allowed to drive through.

The woman was told she would have to wait, but she ignored the officers and drove into the accident scene, police said. An officer stopped the woman and believed he smelled alcohol on the woman's breath as she talked, police said.

The woman was asked several times by the officer to get out of the car and perform a field sobriety test. But police said the woman refused and started her car.

The officer reached inside and tried to open the door, but police said the woman drove away with the officer hanging from the window. The officer was still holding on to the car when the woman got to her 'Opihikao Way home, where she was arrested.

The officer was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Police reopened Hawai'i Kai Drive about 4:30 a.m., about five hours after the accident.

In that incident, a 45-year-old man was critically injured and his 20-year-old female passenger injured after their motorcycle struck a parked car on Hawai'i Kai Drive.

Police said the 1999 Harley Davidson apparently was speeding when it hit a gold Lexus about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The male driver was taken to Queen's in critical condition, while the woman was in good condition at Queen's.

Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash and that neither person was wearing a helmet.
