The Seattle Seahawks released Wayne Hunter yesterday after the reserve offensive tackle was charged with misdemeanor assault following a dispute at a sports bar last weekend.

According to a police report, Hunter, a Radford High and University of Hawai'i alum, and his brother were involved in a scuffle at the Classics Sports Bar and Grill in Renton, Wash., on Saturday. The pair got into an argument, and on the way out of the bar knocked over a table, breaking glasses and plates.

Hunter put his brother into a car, went back into the bar and confronted a man, slamming him on a shuffleboard table, the man told police. Hunter's vehicle was later stopped and he was charged with fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief, both misdemeanors.

Hunter, a third-round draft choice in 2003, was arrested for minor assault against his girlfriend in 2003, and was twice suspended for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
