Events around town this week feature skin-care, jewelry, fashion for petites and haute couture from Chanel at a fundraiser for the American Red Cross on Sunday.

JEWELRY BY CARI

For the first time, the entire En Soleil jewelry line of Jewelry by Cari will be shown at a trunk show, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Shasa Emporium, Kahala Mall. The line captured the attention of celebrities in 2004 when Cari's "Water Necklace" was chosen to be given to 250 celebrities including Christina Aguilera, Sharon Stone and Paris Hilton at the Grammy Awards.

California designer Cari Streeter made her chains and pendants interchangeable by creating a special detachable clasp. Her jewelry is made of pure silver or 24-karat gold vermeil, with gemstones from all over the world.

PETITE FASHION EVENT

Kim Williams Dahlman, author of "The Petite Handbook," will host a special petite-sizes-only fashion show at 1 p.m. Saturday at Macy's Ala Moana, level 3. The presentation will include fashions from Eileen Fisher, Jones New York, AK Anne Klein, INC and Nine West, each of whom has a petites line.

Dahlman is a nationally recognized petite-fashion specialist with 20-plus years of experience.

The event is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $10 will benefit the American Heart Association. Seating is limited and reservations are encouraged. For more information, call 945-6427.

'SPECTRUM' SHOW

Students in the Honolulu Community College Fashion Technology program will strut their stuff at "Spectrum," a fashion show Saturday that will showcase their designs. But if you don't already have tickets, you're too late; it's sold out.

The show is coordinated by prominent Honolulu model and events coordinator Tara Chanel, who teaches the fashion production class.

This year the students will also be creative in their venue. They plan to transform the school's courtyard into a European-style outdoor cafe. Dinner will be provided by the Leeward Community College culinary students, assisted by the HCC student cooks.

THE BEAUTY LAB OPENS

For a year or so, DFS Galleria in Waikiki has been experimenting with the concept of a beauty lab — a place where it could introduce "cosmeceuticals" and doctors' brands of skin care and cosmetics. The shopping center brought in emerging beauty brands not yet known in the Japanese market and created a special area. It worked.

The Beauty Lab offers visitors and locals alike new skin-care offerings. Among them will be the Oriki line, created by Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Tuan Nguyen, who lives part-time in Honolulu. DFS is the first to carry the line outside Dr. Nguyen's Beverly Hills office. Other exclusives are Jurlique and Rodan+Fields.

Also being introduced are anti-aging skin-care brands Prevage and StriVectin; doctors' brands Murad, Darphin and Z. Bigatti; and makeup artists' brands Paul & Joe, Laura Mercier and Frédéric Fekkai.

The cosmetics floor at DFS is open to anyone, not just those here on a passport.

CHANEL DOES HALEKULANI

Karl Lagerfeld's spring/summer collection for Chanel will be on display at "Tea at Halekulani," a fundraiser for the American Red Cross' Hawai'i state chapter. All proceeds stay in Hawai'i to meet the needs of our community. The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the ballroom at the Halekulani.

In addition to the fashion show, and teas and savories created by Halekulani's La Mer chef de cuisine, Yves Garnier, a silent auction will be featured. The piece de resistance will be an "Ultimate Parisian Fashion Experience," including attendance at the October world premiere in Paris of the Chanel spring/summer 2007 collection and a visit to Coco Chanel's apartment. Minimum bid is $5,000.

Tickets: $250 per person. Call Jaylene Chee at 739-8130.
