The Young Lawyers Division of the Hawai'i State Bar Association has scheduled activities in observance of Law Week. A Legal Line Hotline (537-1868), a telephone hot line staffed by volunteer lawyers offering information and referrals, will be open 6 to 7 p.m. today through Wednesday. On Thursday, entertainment, games, information tables and a dunk rank will be set up 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Tamarind Square downtown. Information: www.hsba.org.

An INTRODUCTORY eBAY SEMINAR, part of the Hawai'i SCORE 2006 Seminar Series, will be offered 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, sponsored by Business Factoring Hawai'i. Topics will include an introduction to SCORE; the U.S. Small Business Administration's Express Loan Program; an introduction to e-Bay; and ways to determine if eBay is right for a particular organization or company. Volunteers from the HAWAI'I STATE BAR ASSOCIATION'S BUSINESS SECTION will be available to answer business-related questions and offer information at two free sessions. The sessions, sponsored by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs' Business Action Center, are scheduled 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday and May 11 at the center, 1130 N. The National Technical Assistance Center for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders with Disabilities, part of the Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, will sponsor a Disability Leadership Institute on May 8 at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. The purpose is to share with local employers the best and most "forward-thinking" practices, employment success stories, and tools for improving employment for people with disabilities. The institute will include panels of employers who have hired people with disabilities, as well as consumers and vocational rehabilitation counselors. The gathering is scheduled 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the hotel's Tapa Ballroom. Free. Preregistration: www.ntac.hawaii.edu.
A Big Island "TALKING TRASH" CONFERENCE — exploring challenges to and opportunities for the island's waste stream — will be May 20 at the Maunalani Bay Hotel and Bungalows in Kalahuipua'a. The event is hosted by the Hawai'i Island Economic Development Board. Conference topics will include recycling-profits opportunities, curbside recycling, "green building" principles, and benefits of organic diversion on the Big Island. Fee.
