There was rain, but no Rainbows yesterday at Les Murakami Stadium.
For the second consecutive Sunday and the fourth time this month, Hawai'i baseball was postponed because of rain.
Yesterday's nonconference series opener with UC Santa Barbara will be made up as part of a doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. today. The first game is scheduled for nine innings with the second game set for seven.
Two Sunday's ago, the Rainbows' game against Louisiana Tech was postponed by rain. That will be made up when UH visits Ruston, La., in May.
Two games during the the Rainbow Baseball Tournament also were postponed by rain.
The rainout affects UH's starting rotation. Steven Wright might not start today because his next scheduled start is Friday, when UH resumes Western Athletic Conference play against San Jose State. If anything, Wright would pitch no more than an inning or two, UH coach Mike Trapasso said. Ian Harrington was scheduled to pitch today and will start one of the games, Trapasso said. Harrington would still have four days rest since his next start is scheduled for Saturday. Trapasso was undecided as to who would start the other game.
The Rainbows are able to start the doubleheader early because the players are on spring break.
Yesterday's game was scheduled for 1:05 p.m. At about noon, it was moved to 4:30 p.m. But by 2:45 p.m., when it was apparent the weather would not clear, the game was postponed.
