O'ahu had its 10th traffic fatality of the month Friday when a 34-year-old 'Aiea man died at Wahiawa General Hospital after his pickup truck crashed on the H-2 Freeway near Meheula Parkway in Mililani. He was identified as Casey Carter.

Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. John Agno said Carter was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck that hit a vehicle on H-2 near the Ka Uka Boulevard overpass shortly before 10 p.m. Witnesses told police the speeding truck had been weaving in and out of traffic before the collision.

After the collision, the truck sped off and was crossing Kipapa Gulch when it went out of control and struck a barrier. Two people, including the motorist whose vehicle was hit near Ka Uka, pulled Carter out of the burning truck.

He died at Wahiawa General Hospital at 10:37 p.m.
