A nonprofit group dedicated to preserving the history of patrol torpedo boats will dedicate a memorial plaque today at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
The dedication, at 1 p.m., is being held by PT Boats Inc., which was established by World War II veterans to preserve the history of PT boats, their shore bases and their tender ships, according to the group's Web site.
The ceremony will be held at the plaque site on Memorial Walk, according to a release from the cemetery.
PT Boats is asking former PT boat sailors and family members to attend this event and pay their respects to their deceased comrades and renew acquaintances.
The program will include brief remarks by association members, prayers by a Navy chaplain, a firing detail and bugler to play taps, and conclude with the unveiling of the memorial plaque.
