RARICK TIES FOR EIGHTH
Former University of Hawai'i golfer Cindy Rarick tied for eighth at the Hy-Vee Classic, an LPGA Legends Tour event that ended Sunday at Hyperion Field Club in Johnston, Iowa.
Rarick shot 70-72 to finish five shots behind Martha Nause, who won the $100,000 first prize at the 45-older tour event.
Roosevelt graduate Jeannette (Kerr) Kohlhaas (72-76—148) tied for 25th. Former Hawai'i residents Lenore (Muraoka) Rittenhouse (73-79) and Susie Berning (74-78) tied for 39th at 152.
Tomorrow through Aug. 12 — Windward Community College Golf Appreciation Class. Gain a basic understanding of the game of golf, proper etiquette, and basic swing mechanics. Class is 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Golf clubs and balls are provided if needed. Course fee: $100. Information: WCC, 235-7433.
