TONIGHT ON KHNL NEWS 8

The Honolulu Advertiser celebrates 150 years as Hawaii's oldest newspaper. All week long KHNL News 8 is taking a look at some of the paper's milestones in coverage.

Tonight meteorologist Sharie Shima looks at how the Honolulu Advertiser covered some of our state's wacky and bizarre weather.

That is tonight on KHNL News 8 at 6 & 10.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"P.O.V.: No More Tears Sister," 10 p.m., PBS. Rajani Thiranagama was a doctor, a researcher and an idealist. She fought for human rights in her native Sri Lanka, a nation fractured by its long stretch as the British colony, Ceylon. She was 35 when she was gunned down in 1989. This compelling documentary views her life, her death and her country. It's a strong start for the 19th season of a great series.

OF NOTE

"Rescue Me," 7 p.m., FX. Three Oscar-winners — Susan Sarandon, Tatum O'Neal and Marisa Tomei — play key roles tonight. A surprise move has a sharp impact.

"House," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. In the first rerun, an AIDS patient fights with Dr. House then is his patient. In the second, Chase misdiagnoses someone.

"According to Jim," 7 p.m., ABC. Here are four reruns. In the first, Jim is happy when his wife feels guilty. Then he chooses a bad gift for her (7:30 p.m.), chooses a bad activity for them (8:30 p.m.) and tries to do his own deliveries (8 p.m.).

"Fear Factor," 7 p.m., NBC. This wraps up the three-week battle between veterans of other reality shows. The winner gets $150,000.

"Last Comic Standing," 8 p.m., NBC. The original 12-person field had one flaw: Many women seemed to be selected more for brassy attitude than for wit. That was corrected last week when the clever Michele Balan went against brash April Macie and Stella. Balan got 83 percent of the votes and the others were ousted. Tonight, the 10 survivors write for Adam Carolla's radio show.
