Advertiser Staff
Police yesterday were searching for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman at knifepoint at the Ke'ehi Lagoon park.
A 39-year-old woman told police she was in a restroom at the park when a man walked in at about 11 a.m. Police said he showed her a knife and ordered her to remove her clothes.
But while he was taking off his clothes, she grabbed the knife and the two began to struggle. Police said the woman managed to break free and run out of the restroom.
The man got into a white vehicle and fled, police said. The only description of the suspect was that he was in his 20s and possibly homeless.
The woman did not suffer any serious injuries, police said.
DONATIONS POUR IN AFTER SCHOOL FIRE
University of Hawai'i Foundation officials said yesterday that Honolulu residents are continuing an outpouring of support for the University Laboratory School, which was damaged by fire this month.
As of yesterday morning, the foundation had received $35,440 in donations for the school's fire recovery fund, a spokesman said.
Those wishing to donate can do so in three ways.
