Homeowners who want to find out more about their enemy the termite can turn out for public information seminars on O'ahu.

The seminars are sponsored by the UH Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources. UH termite expert Julian Yates will offer information about termite identification and biology, plus tips on how to prevent termite damage.

Hawai'i residents are spending an estimated $100 million a year on termite control and repairing damage caused by the wood-eating insects.

All seminars will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at:

  • Tuesday, Moanalua High School.

  • June 29, Mililani High School.

  • July 11, Windward Community College.

Registration is required. Call 235-7433 for the Windward Community College, 622-1634 for Mililani High and 837-8466 for Moanalua High.
