Grammy Award-winning R&B star Erykah Badu graces the Pipeline stage with her soulful grooves and poetic lyrics. The acclaimed singer-songwriter's latest release is "Worldwide Underground." Tickets are $42 in advance and $50 at the door, for this 18 and older concert.

FESTIVAL: JUNE 30-JULY 4
BayFest expands this year into a five-day affair full of musical entertainment, car shows, rides and fireworks. Other highlights include an Island Lifestyle Expo, military display, Coconut Island boat rides and Bathtub Regatta. This year the headliners will be Juvenile, Chris Cagle, Staind, Molly Hatchet, Trick Pony and .38 Special. Advance tickets are $17.50 general, $12.50 military and dependents and $5 children 6-12. At the gate, before 5 p.m., it's $12, $10 and $5; afterward it's $20, $15 and $10. Free for keiki 5 and younger.

CELEBRATION: JULY 2
The Honolulu Centennial Celebration continues this summer with a 100th-birthday party featuring the largest cake in city history. Everyone is invited to enjoy a slice of a humongous cake, plus there's entertainment and family fun. Admission is free. The Honolulu Advertiser is a sponsor.

COMEDY: JULY 7
Comedian Eddie Griffin is up next for a night of laughs. The stand-up comic and actor, known for his roles in "Scary Movie 3" and "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," has also appeared in the comedy specials "One Night Stand" and "Def Comedy Jam." Tickets are $40 and $50 advance and $42 and $52 on the day of the event.

The Hawaii Shakespeare Festival unveils its fifth season with more classics from the Bard taking the stage for two weeks each. The comic romance "Much Ado About Nothing" opens July 7, followed by the dramatic love story "Antony and Cleopatra" July 15 and "Comedy of Errors," July 22. Season tickets are $42, with admission to individual shows at $18 general, $16 seniors and military and $10 students.

CONCERT: JULY 8
Gather up those good vibrations for the legendary rock 'n' roll group The Beach Boys, led by original members Bruce Johnston and Mike Love, which headlines a benefit concert for the Polynesian Voyaging Society. The event celebrates the Hokule'a's 30 years of voyaging with a musical tribute by Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, Lehua Heine, Ken Makuakane and Kaleo Trinidad. Doors open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance for the lawn, $35 on the day of the event for the lawn, $55 upper terrace and $75 lower terrace.

BOOKS: JULY 8-15
The early bookworms get the deals at the 59th annual Friends of the Library of Hawaii Booksale. This year the event offers more than 100,000 books, along with CDs, videos, DVDs, records, books on tape and collectibles. Special events include seniors day July 10, members' discount day July 11 and Hawai'i library card day July 12. Admission is free.
