Advertiser's daily bloggers invite readers to comment

Advertiser Staff

The Advertiser steps into the blogosphere today with five of its writers providing daily servings of news, information and opinion with an open invitation to readers to talk back.

Writers Catherine Toth, Dan Nakaso, Stephen Tsai, Jerry Burris and David Shapiro are blogging Monday through Friday and sometimes on the weekends at http://blogs.honoluluadvertiser.com.

Their entries cover high-interest subjects off the headlines, including the Tantalus murders and Harry Kim's political future, but also topics from everyday life — such as how to teach your significant other to do laundry.

For each entry, readers can respond immediately and you can read what they wrote. Watch out, though. Our bloggers may take issue with you.

Island Life reporter Catherine Toth's blog covers the wide expanse from relationships to reality TV. Business writer Dan Nakaso discusses all things dealing with Hawai'i commerce. Sports reporter Stephen Tsai covers University of Hawai'i athletics, on the field and off.

Advertiser editorial page editor Jerry Burris provides keen insights into island politics and government, and editorial columnist David Shapiro blogs irreverently about Hawai'i events and beyond.

"We're excited about our new blogs and are anxious to know what readers think," said Mark Platte, vice president/editor of The Advertiser. "As the popularity of our blogs grow, we'll add some more familiar names and faces, so keep checking back."
