TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Cedric the Entertainer: Taking You Higher," 7 p.m., HBO. When you're called "Cedric the Entertainer," you have to work hard at entertaining. He does. This special, taped in a lush Los Angeles theater in April, offers a zesty band and flashy dancers, called the Cedibles. At times, Cedric is in his smooth, Dean Martin mode. Fortunately, he also has good comedy material. The subjects — from Halloween to $5,000-a-plate dinners — are standard, but Cedric brings a witty, everyman point of view.
OF NOTE
"Saturday Night's Main Event," 8 p.m., NBC. Wrestlers from all three WWE shows — "Monday Night Raw," "Friday Night Smackdown" and "Extreme Championship Wrestling" — combine.
"Unbreakable" (2000), 7:30 p.m., ABC. After filling each summer Saturday with a family movie, ABC suddenly detours. This is the movie writer-director M. Night Shyamalan made after his acclaimed, scary "The Sixth Sense." Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson star in the story of a guy who may or may not have extrasensory powers.
"Mo'Nique's Fat Chance," 8 p.m., Oxygen. Here's the second annual special, giving the winner $50,000 and the title Miss F.A.T. (Fabulous and Thick). More than 2,700 full-figured women auditioned, Oxygen said; 10 of them were sent to Los Angeles for a "beauty boot camp," leading to the final competition.
"CSI: NY," 7 p.m., CBS. A woman in a mermaid suit has drowned in the East River. In another case, a murder victim had been living with two women, both of whom he considered his wives.
"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. Matt Damon hosts. British rock sensation Arctic Monkeys play music.
