TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Big Brother: All-Stars," 7 p.m., CBS. Tonight, we learn which 12 people will be in the house for the rest of the summer. Earlier, viewers met 20 nominees who had drawn attention during the previous six seasons. Then they voted for whom to bring back. This is a young group and a social one. Half are 30 or younger; seven list their jobs as waiters, waitresses, hostesses or bartenders. Life could be convivial.

OF NOTE

"Broken Trail," 5 p.m., AMC; and "Desolation Canyon," 6 p.m., Hallmark Channel. Two new westerns done in the classic style get quick reruns. "Broken Trail," starring Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church, has a rich depth and texture. "Desolation Canyon," starring Patrick Dempsey and Stacy Keach, has its moments but gets a bit repetitious.

"Master of Champions," 7 p.m., ABC. Contestants range from yo-yo champs to someone who chops fruit by throwing playing cards.

"My Name is Earl," 7 p.m., NBC. Earl once broke Joy's fancy figurine; now he figures the only way to duplicate it is to back a winner in a beauty pageant. Alas, Joy wants a much bigger present.

"The Office," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Here are three straight reruns of this quiet and clever comedy. In the first, Dwight finds half a marijuana cigarette and goes into his cop mode. In the second, Michael is in charge of conflict resolution with hilarious results as he reads directly from the manual. In the third, it's casino night.

"Grey's Anatomy," 8 and 9 p.m., ABC. Settling into its spot for the fall, this show goes all the way back to its start. First is the pilot film in which Meredith takes an uncharacteristic tumble with a stranger — then learns he's one of her superiors at the hospital. In the second episode, she decides which of the young doctors can room with her in her family's stately home.

"Windfall," 9 p.m., NBC. Damien is torn between his Russian bride and Frankie, a likable teen his age. Meanwhile, Frankie is upset to learn her dad was involved in an accidental shooting. Also, Zoey's still missing and Sean hires a private detective.
