Former Maine Gov. Angus King, who created a statewide program in 2002 to provide laptop computers to seventh- and eighth-grade public school students and their teachers, raised $850,000 in private money last summer to establish the Maine Learning Technology Foundation. The nonprofit foundation will offer free home Internet access to about 11,000 low-income children participating in the state's laptop program. Other program participants can purchase the Internet service at a discounted rate.

Three-fourths of the milk sold is the chocolate skim variety. Most of the rest is 1 percent white milk.

SAY NO TO THUGS

PLAY, DISCUSSION TO ADDRESS BULLYING

Wai'alae School will host an interactive play and discussion about bullying at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school's cafeteria.

Students in third, fourth and fifth grade who participated in an afterschool course on conflict resolution developed the play to create a dialog about the common childhood problem. There will be a discussion about solutions following the performance.

Anyone concerned about bullying is encouraged to attend. Participants should bring a potluck dish to share.
