The organic shapes some sinewy, others bulbous, all inviting in John Tanji Koga's new one-man show at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i are collectively meant to be "a place for contemplation," says the artist.

"When I created the pieces, it created an environment where I thought about the people from my past and life in general."

Koga refrains from over-interpreting the amorphous white-plaster sculptures, which range from 3 to 8 feet high.

"Garden of Spirits," is on view through March 3. For more information, call 945-7633.
