Gas price cap to climb 5 cents

Hawai'i's wholesale price cap will rise 5 cents to $1.83 a gallon for regular on O'ahu Monday, according to the state Public Utilities Commission. That price excludes taxes and a retail dealer mark-up.
The law sets a ceiling on the price wholesalers can charge for gasoline. Retail prices are not regulated under the law.
IRS WANTS TO ADD 3 REVENUE AGENTS
The Internal Revenue Service wants to boost staffing by almost one-quarter of a unit that audits and investigates the taxes of medium- and large-sized businesses in Hawai'i.
The IRS said it wants to add three revenue agents here to the current staff of 13. The pay ranges from $69,000 to $82,000, depending on experience and education. It said applicants should have taxrelated experience.
MATSON BEGINS SERVICE IN CHINA
Matson Navigation Co. officially launched its China-Long Beach Express yesterday with the departure of the MV Manulani from Shanghai.
The new weekly calls by Matson vessels in Ningbo and Shanghai will provide customers with service to Long Beach. The 11-day transit time from Shanghai to Long Beach is one of the fastest in the trans-Pacific trade. The start-up marks Matson's entry into the China market.
KHON SALES MANAGER NAMED
Montecito Broadcast Group said that Bill Spellman has been named general sales manager of KHON-TV effective Tuesday.
Spellman replaces Cheryl Oncea, who resigned this month in protest of Montecito Broadcast's decision to lay off 35 workers, or about one-third of KHON's 112 employees. Oncea was one of eight of the station's top managers to leave in wake of the layoff announcements. Montecito has since decided to scale back the number of layoffs.
Spellman previously was vice president and general manager of three television stations in Rockford, Ill. Before that, Spellman operated a management consulting business in Honolulu, and before that he served as vice president and general manager of KHON.
