UH adds Pac-10 team to schedule

Advertiser Staff

Add another Pac-10 team to the University of Hawai'i football schedule.

UH announced yesterday that it has agreed to a three-game series with Washington State, beginning in 2008.

On Monday, UH announced it would host Oregon State on Dec. 2.

Both schools are from the Pac-10 Conference, which includes football power USC.

"This three-game series helps strengthen our upcoming football schedules and we hope to add more quality teams as we move forward," UH athletic director Herman Frazier said in a release.

The agreement pits the Warriors against the Cougars on Nov. 29, 2008, and Nov. 26, 2011, at Aloha Stadium. UH will travel to Pullman, Wash., for a game Sept. 12, 2009.

"There is no doubt our two trips to Hawai'i will also excite both our players and our fans," Washington State athletic director Jim Sterk said on the school's athletic Web site.

Washington State holds a 2-1 series edge over UH, including a 22-14 victory Nov. 27, 1999, with former Saint Louis quarterback Jason Gesser leading the Cougars to victory.

The Warriors open the 2006 season at Alabama on Sept. 2, and the 2008 season at Florida on Aug. 30.
