ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Downtown welcomes Ong King Art Center

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Tonight's First Friday Gallery Walk marks the opening of a new venue: Ong King Art Center (184 N. King St. at River Street). View the line drawings of artist Zak Opaskar 5-9 p.m. Then 9 p.m.-2 a.m. will be a showcase of performers, including mind-blowing "scratch" guitarist Genie, right, from San Francisco. The whole show repeats tomorrow night. Limited presale tickets are available by calling 306-7823.

TELL US STORIES OF KINDNESS

Random Acts of Kindness Week starts Feb. 13, so we're looking for real-life stories about acts of caring and generosity. Maybe a stranger did something amazing. Perhaps a friend unexpectedly pitched in when you needed it most. Or maybe a colleague quietly did a good deed.

What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you or someone you know? If you have a story, reach Zenaida Serrano at zserrano@honoluluadvertiser.com. Include your name and phone number.

FINAL WORD

"The Korean guy, Jin, from 'Lost' — he has the most striking features I've seen in a long time. His cheekbones are phenomenal."
