About 2,800 Hilo customers lost power about 2:58 p.m. yesterday when a tree fell onto electrical distribution lines.
By 3:30 p.m., power was restored to all but about eight customers. Customers still without power at about 8 p.m. included the University of Hawai'i-Hilo and Waiakea High School.
Hawaii Electric Light Co. officials said electricity likely would be restored to the remaining customers last night.
