Kalani Legion team beats Arizona

Cameron Bayne hit for the cycle and pitched Kalani to a 14-11 victory over Tucson, Ariz., yesterday in the American Legion (19-under) Western Regional baseball tournament at Albuquerque, N.M.
Kalani (2-1) plays Louisville, Colo. (2-1) today in the double-elimination tournament. The championship game is scheduled for tomorrow.
Las Vegas beat Louisville, 7-4, yesterday to remain unbeaten.
Bayne scored three runs and had four of Kalani's 19 hits. He had an RBI single in the third, a solo homer in the fourth, an RBI double in the fifth and an RBI triple in the ninth.
Gregory Hackler went 3 for 5, including a two-run homer in the third, and Ridge Carpenter was 3 for 6 and scored two runs.
Bayne gave up nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, struck out three and walked three in seven innings.
Kalani took a 12-4 lead after five innings, including five runs each in the third and fourth innings. Tucson also committed five errors.

REMITICADO WINS THREE
Jill Remiticado, an Iolani School and Pacific (Ore.) University graduate from 'Aiea, won three bronze medals at the USA Weightlifting National Championships, which concludes today in Shreveport, La.
Remiticado, 25, competed in the 53 kg (116-pound) class. She finished third in the Olympic-style lifts for the snatch and the clean and jerk, and the total of the two lifts in her first national competition.
The former high school and collegiate wrestling champion lifted 63 kg (139 pounds) in the snatch, and 77 kg (169 pounds) in the clean and jerk for a total of 140 kg (308 pounds).
Remiticado holds the state lifting records for her weight class.
GOLF
KIM MAKES CUT
Honolulu's Chan Kim was the only Hawai'i golfer to make the cut yesterday at the Westfield Junior PGA Championship at Westfield Center Country Club in Ohio.
Kim, a junior at Kaimuki High School, shot a 1-over-par 72 in the third round in the boys division and was tied for 27th at 218, which was the cutline.
Joe Monte, of Chantilly, Va., shot a 67 to take a five-shot lead at 203.
Honoka'a High senior Sean Maekawa of Pa'auilo, Hawai'i, shot an 75 and finished at 226. Seabury Hall freshman Robert Greenleaf of Makawao, Maui, shot 80 to finish at 240.
Thirty-one boys advanced to today's final round.
Brittany Altomare, of Shrewsbury, Mass., shot a 2-under 69 to lead the girls division at 214. Kaua'i High senior Miki Ueoka shot an 85 and finished at 245.
