One man was injured in a fire that destroyed a Makiki apartment last night.
The fire in a fourth-floor apartment in the Alohi Manor at Alohi Way and Piikoi Street was reported at 10:33 p.m.
The first arriving fire company reported flames from one apartment, and a second alarm was sounded. Honolulu firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within a few minutes, but not before the flames gutted the apartment, said Battalion Chief Bill Kaai.
The man who lived in the apartment suffered minor burns and was taken to a hospital, Kaai said, noting that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
A neighbor said the burn victim told him that a faulty air conditioning unit started the fire.
