Hallyu fans, get ready for K-Fest 2! The three-day mini film festival of the best in new South Korean cinema launched last year as part of the Hawaii International Film Festival's summer event.

Last year's K-Fest was a huge success, with tickets selling out a week before the opening night.

Presented by HIFF and KBFD, K-Fest 2 will be at Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 from Aug. 25 to 27. HIFF will screen seven films.

Tickets are on sale now. If you're brave, you have the option of buying tickets the day of the screening at the theater, but considering how quickly tickets sold out last year, I highly suggest buying tickets in advance.

Here's the K-Fest 2 lineup (all films have English subtitles, of course).

'FLYING BOYS'

2005, 109 min.

Director: Byun Young-Joo

Cast: Kim Min-Jung, Yun Gye-Sang, Lee Joon-ki

NOON AUG. 26

Min-jae and his high school buddies take a drunken joy ride in his father's car. An accident occurs and is witnessed by Jung-sook, a stern ballet instructor. Hard up for students, she blackmails the soon-to-be "juvies" into enrolling into her class. Meanwhile, Min-jae's secret crush, Soo-jin, is forced by her parents to enroll in dance class. People from all walks of life learn ballet — while they clash, they soon learn to appreciate the art.

'BAREFOOT KI-BONG'

2006, 100 min.

Director: Kwon Soo-kyung

Cast: Kim Su-mi, Im Ha-ryong, Tak Jae-hoon

6:30 p.m. Aug. 25, noon Aug. 27

Town fool Ki-Bong begs for food and races barefoot to his destitute mother before it gets cold. He enters a mini-mara-thon in hopes of winning prize money to buy his mother a gift. The village people soon realize what love between family members really means.

'MY BOSS, MY TEACHER'

2006, 124 min.

Director: Kim Dong-won

Cast: Jung Joon-ho, Jung Woong-in, Jung Woon-Tae

8:45 p.m. Aug. 25

The 2001 hit comedy "My Boss, My Hero" finally has a sequel. Now in college, hero Doo-sik is a student ethics teacher by day, mob thug by night. One of the biggest comedies of the year!

'YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE'

2005, 123 min.

Director: Park Jin-pyo

Cast: Hwang Jung-min, Jeon Do-yeon

6 p.m. Aug. 26, 3 p.m. Aug. 27

Suk-jung, a simple country fellow, falls in love with the beautiful Eun-ha when he sees her working at the local coffee shop. Suk-jung asks Eun-ha to marry him. Eun-ha, who doesn't believe in love, slowly opens up to Suk-jung. Then Eun-ha's dark past comes back to haunt them.

'SEE YOU AFTER SCHOOL'

2006, 35 mm, 103 min.

Director: Lee Seok-hoon

Cast: Bong Tae-gyu, Kim Tae-hyeon, Jeong Koo-yeon

3 p.m. Aug. 26

Perennial loser Goong-dahl signs up for a yearlong psychological therapy program. He leaves the clinic with high hopes for the future, and makes a fresh start in the high school battlefields.

'WEDDING CAMPAIGN'

2005, 120 min.

Director: Byeong-guk Hwang

Cast: Jae-yeong Jeong, Hong Man-taek, Eung-soo Kim

6 p.m. Aug. 27

Uzbekistan may not be the most romantic place, but shy, late-blooming bachelor Man Taek thinks it's his last chance to find love. With the irreverent romance and cross-cultural perspective of "Monsoon Wedding," "Wedding Campaign" puts Taek in the hands of his translator, who must turn him into husband material.

'FORBIDDEN QUEST'

2006, 35 mm, 139 min.

Director: Kim, Dae-woo

Cast: Han Suk-kyu, Lee Beom-su, Kim Min-jung

8:45 p.m. Aug. 27

Intelligent, adult and lush with rich costumes and palace tradition, "Forbidden Quest" was a hit in Korea earlier this year. Yun-seo comes across an "indecent novel." Hesitant to read such a book, he writes one himself. The result, "Heukgokbisa," is soon the talk of the town and is read by Jeong-bin, the king's favorite concubine. The two men are soon drawn into a web of palace intrigue.
