Iolani's Marciel fires one-hitter against Damien

Advertiser Staff

Wally Marciel pitched a one-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts as Iolani beat Damien, 10-0, in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball game yesterday at Ala Wai Field.

The only hit Marciel allowed was a leadoff double by Kaimana Valalon in the second inning. Marciel responded by striking out the side.

The Raiders' Chris Johnson batted 2 for 3 with a solo homer and two RBIs, and Brennan Nacario batted 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

A two-run single by Brett Hasegawa capped a five-run fifth inning and ended the game because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Iolani improved to 8-2 and Damien fell to 2-6.
