GOING VEGAS
Tropicana in demand by developers

By Anthony Curtis

Two weeks ago, it looked like the sale of the Tropicana to Pinnacle Corp. was a done deal.

It now appears to be anything but. Pinnacle's $2.1 billion offer has been countered — twice — and three casino companies are now vying to buy the 1950s casino on the corner of the Strip and Tropicana: Colony Capital, which owns the Las Vegas Hilton; Ameristar, which used to own the former Las Vegas Reserve; and Pinnacle. The Tropicana remains open for business.

FREE DINNER: Tickets for The World's Greatest Magic Show at the Greek Isles now come with a three-course meal, before or after the show, in Yanni's Greek restaurant. This is an excellent family-friendly show with tickets priced around $65, and the restaurant has decent Greek and continental food at reasonable prices.

Q. What happened to the Ho Casino behind the Westward Ho?

A. The Ho on Industrial Road was completely razed; a giant hole is all that remains. Much of the Westward Ho has also been torn down. Only the Strip frontage remains, pending what's expected to be construction on new condos.
