Kelly Rulon scored two goals, and third-ranked UCLA remained unbeaten in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with a 6-4 victory over fifth-ranked Hawaii last night in a women's water polo match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
The Bruins also got goals from Courtney Mathewson, Jillian Kraus, Kacy Kunkel and Monique Blanchard to improve to 21-2 overall and 8-0 in the MPSF.
Iefke Van Belkum scored two goals, and Kelly Mason and Amy Logan each had one for the Rainbow Wahine (11-8, 5-4).
Last night's match was the Rainbow Wahine's final MPSF home match. UH will play an exhibition match against New Zealand tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Hawai'i finishes its regular season on the road with matches against Loyola Marymount, USC, Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge.
The MPSF Championship will be at Irvine, Calif., April 27 to 30.
BASEBALL
SANTA BARBARA SWEEPS PAST HAWAI'I-HILO
Chris Valaika hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs, powering UC Santa Barbara to a 12-1 victory over Hawai'i-Hilo and a sweep of a doubleheader at Wong Stadium in Hilo.
In the first game, Matt Emerick went 4 for 4 with a double, triple and four RBIs, and UCSB broke a 3-all tie with five runs in the top of the seventh and last inning to beat UHH, 8-5.
The Vulcans fell to 10-22, while the Gauchos improved to 12-12.
HAWAI'I PACIFIC SPLITS WITH ST. MARTIN'S
Mario Ramirez scattered eight hits in pitching the nine-inning distance and Danny Lee drove in two runs, leading visiting Hawai'i Pacific to a 4-2 victory over St. Martin's University in the first game of a doubleheader at Lacey, Wash.
In the second game, Brady Halverson tossed a seven-inning, two-hitter to lead St. Martin's to a 4-0 victory.
With the split, HPU is 20-15. St. Martin's is 7-14.
SOCCER
UH-HILO SEEKS COACHES FOR MEN, WOMEN
The University of Hawai'i-Hilo is seeking applicants for head coaching positions for the inaugural seasons for women's and men's soccer.
Coaches would be responsible for all aspects of the program from the administrative duties of budgeting and scheduling to recruiting, player development and academic support.
Submit letter of interest, resume and three letters of professional references to Men's Soccer Selection Committee and/or Women's Soccer Selection Committee at UHH Athletics, 200 W Kawili St, Hilo, HI, 96720-4091.
Application deadline is 4:30 p.m., April 28.

CHAMINADE, BYUH WIN TOGO TOURNEY OPENERS
Chaminade and Brigham Young-Hawai'i won their opening games yesterday at the Togo's Tournament of Champions at Turlock, Calif.
Carolyn Fisher went 2 for 3 with a homer, and Anina Quaranto and Kehaulani Yamaguchi each drove in two runs to lead Chaminade to a 7-5 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay.
Tess Haertling (5-7) tossed a three-hitter and Sherri Howell drove in Melissa Lehano in the third inning to lead BYUH past Sonoma State, 1-0.
In other games involving Hawai'i teams, San Francisco State beat Hawai'i-Hilo, 8-3, while Hawai'i Pacific lost a pair, falling to UC San Diego, 5-1, and Cal State-Bakersfield, 10-2, in a game called after six innings because of the mercy rule.

Yesterday's Western Athletic Conference softball game between Hawai'i and San Jose State at the Rainbow Wahine Stadium was postponed because of rain.
The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader today, with games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
