Boo! Halloween is Monday, but the weekend is full of ghosts, ghouls and all manner of jack-o’-lanterns as the community celebrates the haunting season.

The Bishop Museum’s annual Halloween offering, Treat Street, is a family-friendly festival.

It's a monsterfeast of a weekend ahead ... a signal that Halloween is nearing. (It's on Monday, in case you're still in the dungeon.)

Time to bring out the beast in you. Be spooked. Be scared. Be adventurous.

Put on your fangs, cloak yourself in black and experience a Campy Horror Night tonight as ArtafterDark unfolds at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. This is how the arts crowd celebrates.

Haunting grounds are creeping up all over the island — from Kahala to Kane'ohe, from Wahiawa to Wai'anae. So hop on your broom — and explore.

Some events, including a cluster of wee-set costume contests, are strictly for keiki.

But beware: Because the bewitching season has become such a treat for adults, many attractions are unsuitable for the young. That's the case with spooky stuff going on in local clubs.

Safe fun? Try Treat Street, Monday at the Bishop Museum — family-aimed festivities organized by University of Hawai'i architecture students.

Want to scream? The Scare Factory III, under way at Windward Mall, has theme rooms that include animatronic and live monsters. You can squeal, you can howl, you can moan.

Of course, Halloween can be simply tradition — just stay home with your bucket of treats and await the trick-or-treatsters.

But if you're thirsty for scares and more, this list might help.

Bulleted events indicate admission is $5 or less, or free. Full-price admission is listed; * denotes discounts (or free) for students, seniors, military, members, children and/or advance purchases. Call venue for details.
