J.K. expects to give birth to a girl any time now, and she and her boyfriend hope to bring their daughter into a situation better than the one they were in recently.
Two months ago, the young couple was living on the beach. Now they're in transitional housing, trying to put their lives together.
The couple met while both were homeless and receiving job training through the Job Corps program. J.K. became pregnant and they began searching for a place to live.
In September, the couple was accepted into transitional housing in Waimanalo. The family started a savings account so they can move out of transitional housing and also buy a car.
J.K's boyfriend, L.M., recently got a job as an auto mechanic, a skill he learned in job training. He is planning on going back to school for further mechanic training.
J.K. still hopes to study fashion design. She was previously accepted into a fashion design school on the Mainland.
With the arrival of their baby just days away, J.K. and L.M. need baby clothes and a crib or portable crib. They also could use a sofa bed. The family could also use household items, including dishes.
Christmas Fund donations are used for families who need help through the holidays. Any money remaining after the holidays will be used to help those in need throughout the year.
Our anonymous Santa will match the first $25 of each donation to the Christmas Fund.
