The spotlight is on youth in Diamond Head Theatre's "Aladdin Jr.," an adaptation of the popular Disney animated film "Aladdin" and featuring young performers in the familiar roles.

The whimsical musical tale begins in the city of Agrabah, where young Aladdin falls in love with Princess Jasmine. A villain and a wisecracking genie from a magic lamp add to the drama and mayhem. Will young love carry the day?

The Oscar-winning music by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice includes the hit songs "A Whole New World" and "A Friend Like Me." "Aladdin Jr." is directed and choreographed by Miles Wesley and Adealani Malia.

The show premieres at 8 p.m. today, and repeats at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays; 3 p.m. on Dec. 10 and 17; 4 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 18, and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19-22 at Diamond Head Theatre.

Tickets are $12-$42 general, with discounts for students, military and those 62 and older. 733-0274, www.diamondheadtheatre.com.
