In sportscasting, the play-by-play announcers provide the “what” of the action; the color analysts offer the “why.” Here’s the “who” on UH football analysts Doug Vaioleti of KFVE (channel 5) and Robert Kekaula of KKEA (1420 AM).

DOUG VAIOLETI

Day job: Union carpenter.

Hometown: Kahuku.

High school: Kahuku High School.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 288 pounds. "I just got on the scale yesterday."

Crib: Renovation is nearly complete on a house with six bedrooms, four bathrooms, jacuzzi and pool.

Ride: Toyota Tundra, with an extra cab, camper and cargo rack.

Favorite pro team: "The San Diego Chargers, because they're closest to home."

Madden NFL 2006 or NCAA Football 2006: "Madden, because I just got it."

Famous co-worker: "Jim Leahey."

Augie T. or Da Braddahs: "Da Braddahs, because they do a Tongan and Samoan skit."

Iron Chef speciality: "Furukake salmon with dungeness crab on top of it."

Height: 6-2 3/4.

Weight: "Two dozen manapuas."

Crib: Completing construction on a house with six bedrooms, six bathrooms (including an 84 square-foot shower with seven shower heads). "It could be bigger, if Doug Vaioleti would give me a good discount on labor."

Ride: "I'm really a truck man, but my dad took my truck. Now I'm an SUV (Lincoln Navigator) guy."

Favorite pro team: Hawaiian Warriors (roller derby).

Madden NFL 2006 or NCAA Football 2006: "NCAA, because it has the option (offense), baby."

Famous co-worker: Jennifer Love Hewitt ("The Byrds of Paradise" television show).

Augie T. or Da Braddahs: "Sober, it's Augie T. Under the influence, it's Da Braddahs."

Iron Chef speciality: "Laulau, beef stew and poi. I use a secret ingredient (for the laulau) I wouldn't even tell Doug Vaioleti."

Pastime: "Me, a shady spot under the tree and an ukulele, singing a Hawaiian song."
